Well it looks like the moral compass has been lost for the McCain straight talk express. Back in 2000, McCain was the victim of the Bush robo calls that inferred that he was the father of an illegitimate black child. McCain called these "hate calls" and vowed to never use such tactics.
Fast forward to 2008, McCain is behind in his White House run and as such has broken his promise to forgo robo calls.
Here is the text of the type of call McCain is currently running:
"You need to know Barack Obama has worked closely with Bill Ayers, whose organization bombed the U.S. Capitol, the pentagon, a judge's home and killed Americans."
On Fox News, John McCain defended these calls stating they are accurate. On that point, McCain is right. Barack Obama has worked with Bill Ayers. Obama severed on an anti-poverty committee with the Mr. Ayers, along with several other prominent Chicago citizens. It is also true that Bill Ayers bombed the U.S. Capitol, the pentagon, a judge's home and killed Americans. What it is not true is that Barack Obama helped Bill Ayers with those bombings.
However, the McCain ad leaves that impression.
That would be like saying:
"You need to know that during the height of the Vietnam war John McCain was in close contact with the North Vietnamese, enemy communists who fought U.S. armed forces, bombed our bases and killed Americans."
This statement is also technically correct. Was John McCain in close contact with North Vietnam during the war? Yes. Did North Vietnam fight U.S. armed forces, bomb our bases and kill Americans? Yes. Yet here is the important question, did John McCain support and aid the North Vietnamese war efforts. Absolutely not. However, someone ignorant of Senator McCain's record as a prisoner of war might draw a different conclusion.
Here's hoping McCain soon finds his compass, otherwise it looks like the express will remain in the ditch for the rest of the campaign.

McCain's Last Mission: Operation Frivolous Lawsuit
The final Presidential debate is over and according to American public, Obama scores the hat trick. Three for three. McCain did his best to shore up the republiCON base making reference to Bill Ayers. In the end however, Obama put it best when he said that bringing up Ayers says more about the McCain campaign (desperate) than it does about Obama.
However, of more interest was Senator McCain's railing against ACORN. In a nutshell, republiCONS have their underwear in a bunch over supposed voter irregularities connected to ACORN voter registration efforts. Never mind that ACORN is reporting these irregularities to the authorities for investigation, McCain's "final solution" is coming clear. They can't win on the issues, or convince the public therefore the seeds are being planted for a whole scale legal challenge of the validity of any Obama victory.
Holy frivolous lawsuit Batman! Wonder how he will square it with his public opposition to other supposed bogus legal action?

GOP: Can't Get no Satisfaction
Yesterday former Wisconsin Governor Tommy Thomson (republiCON) was asked if he is satisfied with the McCain campaign for President.
He answered bluntly "No," and "I don't know who is."
Come on Tommy you are not thinking very hard.
Here's a hint its roughly 53 percent of the country and growing.

John McCain: I know . . .
John McCain seemed to be challenging Horshack from Welcome Back Kotter during last night's debate. "Ooh, ooh, ooh, I know, I know" was Senator McCain's standard response to nearly every question. In fact, Senator McCain said a variation of "I know" more than 20 times to questions ranging from fixing the economy to fighting terrorism and ending our dependence on foreign oil.
Wow! John McCain isn't Horshack he's Alan Greenspan, T.Boone Pickens and Superman all rolled up into one.
Thank God he's here just in time to save the country.
Let's go the the transcripts and drink in the wisdom of our new oracle of Delphi on how he'll right our ship of state.
Question: Would you give Congress a date certain to reform Social Security and Medicare within two years after you take office? Because in a bipartisan way, everyone agrees, that's a big ticking time bomb that will eat us up maybe even more than the mortgage crisis.
MCCAIN: Social Security is not that tough. We know what the problems are, my friends, and we know what the fixes are. We've got to sit down together across the table.
Stupid democrats don't you see all we have to do is force everyone to sit at a table. Duh! Of course that will magically solve social security. What's up with Obama, why does he hate sitting so much?
Let's turn to Bin Laden. John's got a crystal clear plan for capturing America's public enemy number one.
QUESTION: Should the United States respect Pakistani sovereignty and not pursue al Qaeda terrorists who maintain bases there, or should we ignore their borders and pursue our enemies like we did in Cambodia during the Vietnam War?
McCain: I'll get Osama bin Laden, my friends. I 'll get him. I know how to get him. I'll get him no matter what and I know how to do it.
Well, ahh that's a little short on the specifics. Oh, that's probably because John doesn't telegraph his punches. Or for those voters born after 1980, he doesn't IM his punches.
However, John's plan likely has something to do with his flying to the remote hills of Pakistan and capturing Bin Laden right after the oath of office.
Look out Green Berets, Navy Seals and the Delta Force it looks like the U.S. Special Forces are one of government programs John was referring to when he stated government spending would have to be scaled back. Makes sense, for once we have John in the White House, who needs them.
So in conclusion, John knows how to fix the economy, catch Bin Laden, end our dependence on foreign oil, save social security and probably make a mean souffle.
On second thought John isn't Horshack, Alan Greenspan, T. Boone Pickens, or Superman, sadly its become apparent what he knows is more like this guy.

VP Debate: Pass or Falin!
With the Vice Presidential debate a little more than 24 hours away, conservative hacks are falling all over themselves to lower the expectations for Sarah Palin. Basically if Sarah doesn't drool while regurgitating her memorized lines, she wins.
However if Americans have learned anything these past eight years its this: the Presidency requires someone with more qualifications than that of a tape recorder with good table manners.

Three things McCain Didn't Say at Tonight's Debate or His Hillary Swank Moment
One. I'm a proud republican. This is not surprising given the tarnished image of the GOP.
Two. George Bush. Again not too surprising given the approval ratings of the republican president. McCain is doing everything he can to distance himself from his party and current standard bearer.
Third, and this is surprising. . . . Sarah Palin.
Are you kidding? Nope. Look here.
John McCain, who just a short four weeks ago told the world how impressed he was with Mrs. Palin, doesn't mention his running mate's name once during the nearly two hour debate.
Who's Senator McCain's debate coach, Hillary Swank?
By contrast Senator Obama made sure to give a shout out to Joe Biden, saying he was proud of his choice for vice president.
If Sarah is so impressive you'd think the man who picked her would want the millions of Americans tuned in tonight to know he's proud of his choice. Or at least he'd want Americans to know her name.
Actually on second thought, it's obvious why he failed to mention Sarah's name.

McCain's Walk and Chew Gum Momemt
So, John McCain is suspending his presidential campaign because he wants to devote his full attention to the financial crisis. How convenient. Although, one has to wonder whether it isn't the Dow's falling numbers, but rather something else driving his latest desperate move.
To his credit, Obama is keeping the pressure on McCain, signaling his desire to move forward with Friday's scheduled presidential debate. It should go forward. Obama and McCain have dramatically different ideas about where the country needs go on countless issues including the economy. With the American public's attention tightly focused on the health of their economy, now is the perfect time for the two candidates to lay out their vision and plan for a return to economic prosperity.
Now more than ever, the country needs a President who can focus on more than one issue at a time. Our next President won't get any timeouts in the Oval office. By suspending his campaign, McCain is clearly showing he isn't up to the job's challenges.
Stick of gum John?

McCain's Short Term Memory
During the recent republiCON presidential debates, flip flopping John McCain said that short term Mayors and Governors are not qualified to be President. Poor Rudi. Poor Mitt.
For we now know if only they had been both a short term Mayor (of one of America's smallest towns) and a short term Governor (of one of the nation's smallest states), John would announce to the world their qualification to lead the free world.
Flip Flop much!

Experience Smerience
John McCain's response to Obama's inspiring acceptance at last night's final night of the Democratic convention was "he's still not ready to be president." Yet Sarah Palin (John's choice for Vice President) is. Sarah has been Alaska Governor for less than two years and is currently under investigation for abuse of power.
Great choice John.
Oh, PS. Remember when CONs were praying for rain during the last night of the Democratic Convention as a sign from God that the almighty disapproves of Obama's run for President. Well, the weather was great and the crowd was huge in Denver last night.
Guess God is ready for change as well.

Bad News for John
The USA Today just came out with a new poll that shows Senator Barak Obama beating John McCain in a one on one match up. This has got to have repbuliCONS spewing their cornflakes.
For the past several months, John McCain has blasted Obama on foreign policy, the military and his church. Meanwhile, Obama had to also fight off Hilary Clinton in the primary battle.
Despite this two front war, Obama leads McCain in the USA Today poll by 3 points. An six point swing from just one month ago. One wonders how large the lead would be if Obama hadn't been fighting Hillary these past several months.

Fake News: We Distort so You Don't Decide
Recently on Fake News (we only watch it on the You Tube), an anchor pushed a poll that reportedly showed John McCain beating the Democrats by between 9 to 17 points.
Wow! Stop the presses!
Why hasn't the mainstream media jumped all over this?
Well, probably because aaaaah. . . . it's not true.
You see in the Fake News poll, the republiCON voter has only Johnnie boy to choose from, thus the 35 percent. Yet, the Democrat vote is apparently split between Obama and Hillary.
Eventually one of the Democratic candidates will be eliminated, a la American Idol.
Anyway, assuming most good Democrats vote for the party nominee, the Democratic candidate actually pulls 44 percent of the vote in the Fake News poll.
So, the CONservatives at Fake News with a wave of their magic wand turned John's deficit into a lead.
Pretty impressive.
Maybe they will next turn their transformative power toward these troubling numbers.

Senator McCain? A few questions please!
After his victory in Wisconsin, John McCain called out Senator Barak Obama, the likely Democratic presidential nominee. In a not so veiled smack at the Illinois Senator, McCain asked if America wants to "risk the confused leadership of an inexperienced candidate who once suggested invading our ally, Pakistan, and sitting down without pre-conditions or clear purpose with enemies who support terrorists and are intent on destabilizing the world by acquiring nuclear weapons?"
Fair question. One I'm sure Obama will be happy to answer in his upcoming debates with the republiCONS default nominee.
Yet, I'm certain Obama, as well as the rest of the American public will also have a few tough questions for McCain.
How about these for starters?
Does America want a President who uses enthic slurs? Or what does it tell us about the candidate's judgment who sees no problem with a hundred year war/occupation? Are voters comfortable with someone running the country who appears to have sold his soul in an attempt to win over the extreme right? Or does a man who once called Jerry Fallwell and his ilk the "agents of intolerance" only later to turn around and give a commencement address at the agent's University have the moral character to lead the nation?
We look forward to learning the answers.

McCain/Romney Ticket? NOT!
"Slick" Mitt Romney is stumping hard for Super Tuesday votes, yet must realize his multi-million dollar ego trip is quickly running out of steam. To keep his campaign on life support, Romney's reduced to aping criticism from CONservative voices like Rick Stantorum, Rush Limbaugh, Hugh Hewitt, and Lars Larson of front runner John McCain.
It's clear Romney shares these blowhards' assessment of John when he repeats the message that "We really can't afford John McCain as the nominee of our party." By implication though, Slick is also saying the country can't afford him as president.
Democrats couldn't agree more, and look forward to quoting Slick's take on John during the general election.

John McMaine?
Touring the southeast United States in his quest for the White House, John McCain stated he understands South Florida and Cuba because he was in the Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis.John's remarks makes one wonder how long will it be before Chuck Norris implies Senator McMain understands Florida and Cuba because he served on the Maine as well.

G.O.P. = Getting Out of the Party
CBS tries to paint this as bad news for both major parties, but astute observers ask where did these independents come from? The CBS poll clearly shows they are defectors from rebpubliCON party! In fact, CON identification is down 21 percent from 1988. Meanwhile, people identifying themselves as Democrats are basically unchanged during that time period.
Over the past four presidential elections the GOP has won the popular vote only once, in 2004. At that time CON identification was 30 percent. However, given the dismal performance of the president and the current slate of CON candidates its unlikely the "grand old party" will sniff 30 percent support anytime soon.
Good luck in November CONS!

Fishwifey: Badge of Honor?
RepubliCON hack Cheri Jacobus described Senator Hillary Clinton's response to a question about her recent vote on Iran as "fishwifey," "shrill," and "thin skinned." The implication is obvious: Senator Clinton is defensive, desperate and irrational. In other words, unfit to lead.
Fine. By this standard most of the republiCON field is disqualified. Take cranky John McCain for example. He called a student a "jerk" for merely having the temerity to ask the longtime public official about his fitness to lead the nation. It appears Arizona's junior Senator is a bit too "thin skinned" to be president. Or how about bumbling Fred Thompson. Freddy had to drag applause out of a recent campaign audience. Smacks of desperation. And then there's Willard "Slick" Romeny who insulted average Americans by stating that his five sons don't have to serve in the military because they are serving on his campaign. Talk about irrational.
It's clear as to why republiCON hacks attack Hillary and the rest of the Democratic field, run from the Bush record and fail to talk up their candidates, they know their guys are in trouble. Every stone thrown by a CON at a Democrat illustrates the GOP's fear and confirms the Democratic nominee will be the one to beat next year.
Keep slinging CONS!

Hey RepubliCONS! Can you Hear 'Em Now!
If the republiCON race for the presidential nomination could be described as a sound it would be a cacophony. A noisy shriek made by candidates who struggle to remain relevant, raise money, or fend off bad press.
Take Mitt Romney. His bleat is starting to run out of wind. In the first quarter money race, Romney came in with a staggering $25 million. However, in the preceding quarter his haul dropped to $21 million. Still seemingly impressive, however hidden in these numbers is a nearly $7 million loan Romney gave to his own campaign. Subtracting this self-love, Romney actually came in second to Guiliani and well behind the leading Democrats. Speaking of self-love, Romney appears to be caught up in a porn scandal that threatens to tar his family values image. It appears slick's opposition to porn doesn’t include smut that makes money for the corporations he used to serve.
The recent noise coming out of the Guiliani campaign wasn't good either. Most notably Rudy's ability to select quality people to run government or work for his campaign was once again called into question. First, it was his pick for Homeland Security Secretary who was hounded by allegations of infidelity, sexual harassment and mob ties. Next, Guiliani's South Carolina chair was busted for distributing cocaine. Now his southern regional chair admits to soliciting prostitutes. Makes one wonder who Rudolph would put in Departments like Health and Human Services.
Meanwhile, McCain's campaign sounds a lot like the battle to sink the Bismarck and appears to have suffered as many hits and headed for the same fate. His campaign is nearly broke, losing staff and like Guilliani, has an accused john chairing one of his states. Sorry Senator, but its time to abandon ship!
As for the bottom tier candidates, their whimpers are fading. Jim Gilmore just threw in the towel. The governor must have seen the writing on the wall, heck a google search shows him sharing headlines with a recently cancelled TV show.
It's just a matter of time until other republiCONS also hear the bell toll. Although, some candidates seem to have been made deaf to and by the incessant ringing of their dying campaigns. What Fun!

Romney Shoots and Misses?
"Slick" Mitt Romney is at it again, making crazy claims about his past in order to win the republican presidential nomination. This time Slick asserts he's a "lifelong" hunter. "I've been a hunter pretty much all my life," Slick recently told a New Hampshire resident. Problem is Romney's only been hunting twice, once when he was 15 and then again when he turned 60. Other than being in a committed marriage, (sorry John and Rudolph) or on rare occasion kicking an addiction, most thinking Americans know it often takes more than two attempts to call oneself a lifelong anything.Slick clearly thinks gun voters are gullible hicks who can be bought off with a couple of hunting trips (the last taking place in a fenced game preserve) and a $1000 donation to the NRA. Hmm. . . perhaps the one G is why the NRA is surprisingly quiet on Romney's claim that two hunts is the minimum necessary to become a lifelong hunter.
If Slick has bought off the NRA for so little, maybe he believes he's accurately dialed his sights in on the gun voter. It remains to be seen if gun voters reject Slick's pandering and make themselves a moving target or sell out their values and offer themselves up to him as sitting ducks.

Republican Cluster F*#@!
The republican race for president is becoming quite a mess. Combining last week's Gallop/USA Today Presidential poll with yesterday's first quarter campaign fundraising numbers, we see a republican field with major problems.
Let's start with Giuliani who had a tough week. First as conservatives learn more about Rudolph's background, his judgement, and political stances his poll numbers drop like a stone. The Gallop poll saw his number fall more than 13 points in just two weeks. Ouch! At that rate, he'll be out of the race in little more than a month. This sagging support meant mediocre contributions. Putting him far behind Willard "Slick" Romney. All this has "the Mayor" somewhat unhinged and defensive.
John McCain is in even tougher straits. His poll numbers plateaued at roughly 20 percent and he came in a disappointing third in the money race. Like Giuliani, McCain is starting to reek of desperation. He is looking for any spark to jump start his campaign, even one that put hundreds of US soldiers in harms way.
Then there's Romney. Old Willard had to choke on his lunch when Gallop revealed he's convinced just three 3 percent of the country he should be the next President. Three percent! That's within the poll's margin of error, which could mean Willard is actually appealing to no one. On the flip side, he sucked in over the past three months a mighty $23 million for his campaign. That has got to be the richest 3 percent in the country. Romney is obviously going after the Bush base.
Meanwhile, Newt's star is fading and Brownback, Tancredo, and Huckabee can't even get off the launching pad. Finally, Fred Thompson's poll numbers went from zero to 12 points in the last 14 days. Impressive for someone who isn't even running. Just shows how desperate the republican base is becoming given the current slate of official candidates. Unfortunately, for thespian Thompson, he's now down $23 million to Romney.
What fun!

Unfortunately, for thespian Thompson, he's now down $23 million to Romney.
What fun!
